Housing Variety

The planning process for The Villages and Lawson Hills is based on an abiding respect for Black Diamond’s heritage of mining, farming and natural resources. A classic small town, such as Black Diamond, historically includes a wide range of lot and home sizes.

Many of the existing lots in the city are odd shaped, because they were split from larger parcels to accommodate maturing families. A variety of housing and lot dimensions allows people to remain in the same neighborhood as their needs change from the young, to young couples, to families with children, to the elderly.

Our neighborhood designs strive to provide a wide mix of housing options to continue this small-town character, as well as provide options for a diverse population, which is another hallmark of small towns. Local subdivisions tend to be more homogenous in lot sizes, and therefore in the lifestyles and income ranges of the people that they attract.

Small towns are far more diverse, their character enriched by greater demographics. Our MPDs seek to honor this tradition and attract a diverse population that will build on Black Diamond’s rich history and heritage.
