Black Diamond Planned Developments Receive Prestigious National Design AwardBlack Diamond, WA. – September 1, 2011 – YarrowBay, the developer of two planned communities in Black Diamond, has received a national Builder’s Choice Design & Planning Award for its work in the South King County city. The award for “Best Site Plan over 20 acres” reflects the innovative and sustainable approach YarrowBay used in creating a blueprint for the new community. “We are honored to receive this recognition of the design for the Black Diamond master planned developments,” said Brian Ross, CEO of YarrowBay. “The priority of YarrowBay’s work in Black Diamond has been to create communities where new and longtime residents alike can live and work.” The two planned communities, the Villages and Lawson Hills, are designed to capture the historic spirit of Black Diamond in a modern, new community. They draw from the architectural design elements of traditional mining towns and reinterpret those elements in a sophisticated approach to sound design principles. The result is a group of vibrant, mixed-use, walkable neighborhoods that retain small-town character and appreciation for the natural surroundings. By using smart-growth strategies, the Villages and Lawson Hills ensure that the future of Black Diamond is inclusive, environmentally sustainable, prosperous, and true to its historic heritage. “This award demonstrates our commitment to designing exceptional places to live and work within Black Diamond,” said Colin Lund, Chief Entitlement Officer of YarrowBay. “Our goal with the planned communities in Black Diamond is to create neighborhoods that integrate with the community and region and this concept truly begins with a great site plan.” YarrowBay’s Builder’s Choice Design & Planning Award follows its recent Golden Nugget Award for on-the-board site planning in Black Diamond. The Golden Nugget was awarded at PCBC, the building industry’s leading conference, trade show and meeting place, on June 23rd in San Francisco. This year’s competition drew nearly 300 entries, with only 41 winners chosen. The panel of jurors presiding over the competition is made up of peers and experts drawn from across the United States and throughout the design and building industry. An awards gala will be held in Washington D.C. on October 12th. Media Contact: Post your commentCommentsNo one has commented on this page yet.
