Parks and Trails

Parks, trails, greens and other gathering places are hallmarks of the neighborhood plans for The Villages and Lawson Hills which will further enhance Black Diamond

The overall park plan is designed to complement the areas of natural spaces and provide for a balance of active and passive recreation opportunities. A large part of the planning process included working closely with King County and various wildlife and conservation organizations to assure that wildlife corridors were both established and protected.

Both Lawson Hills and The Villages have several park sites that will be the focal points of the neighborhood and be built to coincide with construction of neighboring residential homes. In the first phase of The Villages alone there are four major parks designed for a variety of uses. These parks were designed specifically to provide active outdoor space, not only for the residents in The Villages, but for the surrounding community as well. In addition to the initial major parks, several smaller neighborhood parks, tot lots and green spaces are planned for construction as homes are being built.

Additionally, an extensive trail network is planned throughout The Villages and Lawson Hills. These trails link all aspects of the communities together, including parks and open spaces, the Village Center and other retail and commercial areas, allowing for bicycle and pedestrian friendly routes throughout the sites and connect to other existing or planned trails and sidewalks.
